A Year Later

Hello from a new year.

A year ago, I resolved to prioritize monthly blog updates. Then the COVID19 pandemic turned life upside down, and many of my writing intentions took a back seat to my responsibilities as a primary caregiver and newly minted homeschooler. Derailed plans seem somewhat minor in light of the loss and tragedy of 2020, but it still was frustrating to put my writing on the back burner.

In the meantime, I have been on the road with my family, taking advantage of homeschool and remote work to (safely) spend time with family on the east coast and in Colorado. We’re nearing the end of a three month “road trip” and I am siting here in quarantine looking out at the red, rocky hills, taking a deep breath.

With nearly a year of “alternate normal” behind us, I am ready to start a more intentional writing practice, a more disciplined approach to making time and pressing submit. I have started to organize the tools to make this possible — stay tuned for an update on how it all unfolds.

In the meantime, I’d like to share that my piece in the Longridge Review, “Breathing Lessons,” was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. I am honored to be among a stellar group of writers! Here’s a link to the announcement.
